The Wauwatosa
Curling Club played its first game in 1921 in a shed that was
part of Stickney Field Club on Stickney Avenue, just south of
where Wauwatosa's City Hall now stands. In 1925 the shed was
moved to what is now Hart Park and play continued there until
1941, when the Club began in its current location, the Muellner
Building.
The Club
uses four sheets of ice to play and has a clubhouse downstairs
with lockers available for members' use, a bar and a full kitchen
for preparing meals and snacks. We enjoy a postgame tradition
called broomstacking, where members socialize with their team
and their opponents' team.
The Club
has events for men's, women's, mixed (two women, two men per
team), senior (50+), junior (under 21) and open (any combination
of women and/or men) teams. All events have advance signup sheets
and adhere to a schedule.
As a member
of the Club, you are provided great entertainment value for
your dollar. Members of the club pay annual dues to participate.
Dues allow them to play in as many club events as their schedule
permits. In addition, dues cover the cost of refreshments (soda
and beer) and use of the clubroom. As an added bonus, first
year and second year curlers receive a discount and upon paying
your first year dues receive a broom and slider.
Guest are
welcome anytime to the Club. Basic instruction in curling through
the use of video and demonstration are available. You may contact
us by all calling 414.453.CURL (2875) or through the contact
us page on this site.
Our members
share not only an interest in curling, but also the company
of pleasant, fun people. There are novice and veteran curlers
of all ages, and some members who don't curl at all enjoy our
Club. Curling is an exciting and fun winter sport that all ages
can enjoy.
